DanceAbility

 A Dance Class For Everyone

DanceAbility is the study of movement improvisation for all people, for mixed abilities and mixed experiences. The four primary elements that we work with - sensation, relationship, time, and design - guide our practice and allow us to not only dance but dance together. At the basis of this work is the understanding that every movement can happen in any body relatively and that any movement can be interpreted by any body. Our goal is to create a culture of dance that eliminates isolation and works as a community through expression. This class is for all people meaning ALL PEOPLE!

What to Expect:

We have two rules in DanceAbility: you never have to do anything you don’t want to do and only make decisions for yourself. As this is an improvisation practice, autonomy is built into every class. We will move in solos and we will move together, but you always set the pace that you want to proceed and there are literally NO WRONG CHOICES!

Wear the footwear that is most comfortable for you. Some people will be barefoot, others will wear socks, others tennis shoes. If you do wear street shoes, please make sure they are clean before coming into the studio.

*Note: To prioritize quality, safety, and an inclusive experience, our DanceAbility classes are capped at 15 participants. This approach ensures an engaging experience where each dancer feels valued and supported, while creating a safe space for individuals of all abilities to explore and shine.
